You’ve been planning a road trip for your family for months now and you’re all packed up and ready to go. After a few hours of travelling, all your hard work and preparation seems to have dissolved into a pile of empty wrappers and random toys and devices spread all over the car. Here are a few tips to help keep your car organized on a road trip.
- Organize from the start. Before you pull out of the driveway, make sure everything has a specific place—a container for all the snacks, bags for trash, backpacks for kids’ activities, etc. Have everyone in the car help keep everything organized so it’s easy to find on the road.
- Clean up. Whenever you stop, spend a few minute to throw away any trash you’ve collected and put things back in their places. This will prevent total chaos when you arrive at your destination.
- Only what you need. Don’t keep any unnecessary items in the front of the car. For example, if you’re travelling with a child still in diapers, you don’t need to keep any extra diapers up front. You’ll only change a diaper while stopped, so diapers can be stored in the cargo area. This saves space for things you’ll actually use while driving.
