The Ford GT first made headlines as the GT40 racecar back in 1964. It won the 24 Hours Of Le Mans four times in a row, effectively ending Ferrari’s winning streak. Shortly after, the legendary super car left the Ford lineup. It was revived as a street model with a limited run from 2005 to 2006. Now, coming in 2017, the Ford GT will return better than ever and the United States will see approximately half the production volume!
The 2017 Ford GT officially debuted at the North American International Auto Show.
Under the hood of the beautiful monster is an EcoBoost twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine that rockets off with over 600 hp. The super car also features an electronically adjustable steering wheel and pedal similar to that found in the LaFerrari.
In plain sight, the GT’s front end boasts a carbon fiber air splitter, air dam, and two hood vents. The majority of the car is made of carbon fiber which results in a massive power to weight ratio.
The United States will see 100 of the 250 units produced for the 2017 model year. The super car starts at around $400,000.
We here at Hometown Motors can’t wait until the Ford GT returns for the 2017 model year!
