The Los Angeles Auto Show in November — like other auto shows — is typically when automakers unveil what will soon arrive at dealerships. Ford got a little cannier at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show by disclosing a later reveal at an upcoming auto show. Yeah, really.
On display at the LA Auto Show was the 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. Beneath it were a number of cards that showcased the history of the Shelby Mustang over the last 50-plus years. The outline ended with a single clue that read, “GT500 1.14.19.”
This can only mean one thing: Ford is unveiling the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 14.
We don’t know much about the upcoming Shelby GT500, aside from the fact that Ford has promised “the most venom ever” from its new Mustang. This venom will come in the form of a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine that cranks out over 700 horsepower. According to Cars.com, it will be the “most powerful street-legal production Ford ever.”
