The Ford Explorer is one of the American brand’s bestselling models and one of the leaders in the SUV segment. The next-generation model was recently caught out in the open wearing camouflage. If the new look is anything to go by, it seems as though the 2019 Ford Explorer is getting quite the upgrade.
The Ford Explorer is long overdue for a redesign with its last major update taking place in 2011. Eight years after the launch of that generation, the 2019 Ford Explorer will bring a new look to the popular SUV.
Like the Ford F-150, the new Explorer is expected to make use of aluminum body panels that ultimately reduce weight and help increase fuel economy. Ford’s aluminum manufacturers are currently hard at work on a stronger form of aluminum but there’s no word if it will be ready for the production line.
Drivers can expect to see a similar engine lineup to the existing model. Front-wheel drive will likely remain the standard as well with all-wheel driving coming as an available option.
The 2019 Ford Explorer is expected to hit the market in mid-2018.
We here at Hometown Motors can’t wait to see what the future holds for the 2019 Explorer!
