Spring is here, so it’s time to start getting your car ready for the warmer months. It’s definitely easier to get ready for spring than for winter, but there are still some things you should take care of. Here are some tips on how to prepare your car for spring.
The first thing to do is check out your wheels. How’s the tire tread? Does Abe Lincoln’s head poke out when you stick a penny upside down in the groove? Winter is rough on tires—especially all-season ones. If you have winter tires, you’ll need to change back to all-season in the next few weeks.
You should also check your wheel alignment, since pot holes and other winter hazards can knock your tires out of whack. If you notice your car pulling to one side, definitely go get your tires aligned.
Check your fluids, especially coolant. Make sure your battery is still going strong, and if it’s old or has trouble turning on, get it tested and see if it needs replaced.
You should also clean the inside of your car—you’ve probably tracked in a lot of snow and slush!
